7 layer salad recipe
I was definitely curious the first time I have ever heard 7 layer salad recipe.
It turns out that this salad, given it's mysterious name, is not that hard to make!
Which toppings exist in a 7 layer salad recipe? It goes in this order from the bottom of the salad bowl: lettuce, eggs, celery, green pepper, red onion, peas, salad dressing (not counted as a layer), cheese and meat (counted as one layer).
The meat that you add on the seventh layer is usually bacon bits. However, ham is quite a popular choice too. Ham may be more convenient because you'll have to cook the bacon if you want to use bacon bits.

Total time: 45 min
Ingredients (3 to 4 servings):
1 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 to 1 cup frozen peas
3 - 4 lettuce leaves
3 stalks of celery
1/2 red onion
1 green pepper
3/4 cup mayonnaise or Miracle whip
1 tablespoon sugar
meat (for example, ham or bacon bits)
salt and pepper
Part 1 (15 min)
Cook the frozen peas in the microwave for 2 min (1). Grate the cheese and place it in a measuring cup or bowl (2). Fill a pot/saucepan up to 3/4 full of water, then add the eggs (eggs have to be fully submerged) (3). Turn up the heat to high setting (4), then cover (5). While waiting for the water to boil, make the dressing by adding sugar then mayonnaise to a bowl or measuring cup, and mix briefly (6).
Part 2 (20 min)
Remove the pot/saucepan from heat as soon as boiling temperature is reached while keeping the lid on and allow the eggs to cook for about 10 min to get hard-boiled eggs (1). After the eggs are cooked, dump the hot water in the sink (2) without losing the contents and shock with cold water (3). Chop the lettuce, celery, red onion, the green pepper (4) (Tip: move them to a bowl to make room on the cutting board). Crack the eggs by rolling them on a hard surface and peel them (5). Slice the eggs (6).
Part 3 (10 min)
Take out your large salad bowl because it’s time to layer! Layer lettuce (1), eggs (2), celery (3), green pepper (4), red onion (5), and peas (6). With a spoon, spread the dressing on the pea layer (7). For the last layer, sprinkle the cheese (8) and the meat (black forest ham in this example) (9).
The end result looks like this.
Garnish with paprika (optional).
Toss the salad. Serve with salt and pepper.
