Lemonade recipe

Get ready to make some refreshing lemonade with this easy lemonade recipe!

First, I want to say that this lemonade recipe shows you how to make a Vietnamese lemonade. Vietnamese lemonade is made with lime, sugar and carbonated water.

I like my lemonade quite strong so I make mine with 1/2 cup of lime juice. However, reduce this to 1/3 cup of lime juice, or even 1/4 cup if you want a "lighter" lemonade.

If you want to make the regular lemonade, it's easy, just replace the lime with lemons.

Just use regular water if you don't want to use carbonated water. However, I do find that some carbonated water adds a special dimension to the lemonade taste.

This drink reminds me of many fond childhood memories. I hope you'll enjoy it too!

Total time: 30 min

Ingredients (2 servings):

1/2 cup of white sugar
3/4 cup water (for boiling with sugar)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup of lime juice (about 4 limes) or lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
1 cup carbonated water or water
straws (optional)


Part 1 (20 min)
Add the 3/4 cup of water in saucepan (1). Turn on high heat, cover it, and wait for boiling (2). Meanwhile, measure the sugar and salt in a measuring cup. Once the water boils, add the sugar and salt (3) and stir well for 2 min (4). Transfer the sugar mixture to a measuring cup (5) and put it in the freezer for 10 min (6). This will be enough time for it to cool down but not enough time for it to freeze.

Part 2 (10 to 20 min)
Slice some lime (1) and squeeze out the juice in a measuring cup (2). Squeezing juice make take a while so be patient. In two separate glasses, in equal amounts (just estimate, no need to measure), add the lime juice, then the sugar mixture, and finally the carbonated water (3). Mix briefly with a spoon.

Serve with ice, and sliced limes/lemons (optional).


Large batch suggestions for lemonade recipe. Lemonade is easy to scale up as long as you're equipped. Having tools to squeeze the limes/lemons will be better than squeezing them all by hand. Make some room in your freezer. Make the sugar mixture in a larger pot and at the end, mix all ingredients in a pitcher or large bowl.

Ingredients (10 servings):
5 cups of white sugar
7 and 1/2 cups water (for boiling with sugar)
5 teaspoons salt
5 cups of lime juice (about 40 limes) or lemon juice (about 30 lemons)
10 cups carbonated water or water
straws (optional)

Ingredients (50 servings):
25 cups of white sugar
37 and 1/2 cups water (for boiling with sugar)
25 teaspoons salt
25 cups of lime juice (about 200 limes) or lemon juice (about 150 lemons)
50 cups carbonated water or water
straws (optional)

Ingredients (100 servings):
50 cups of white sugar
75 cups water (for boiling with sugar)
50 teaspoons salt
50 cups of lime juice (about 400 limes) or lemon juice (about 300 lemons)
100 cups carbonated water or water
straws (optional)
